A customer review
“A good piece of kit. Locks on to GPS signal very quickly and is fairly swift at working out a route. It’s a bit chunky, like the mobile phones of a couple or so years back. It has a fixed aerial which stands proud of the case by a couple of inches and generally feels very solid. The menu system takes a little getting used to and can be a bit clunky and time consuming if you want to locate a specific address. Not off puttinly so, just a bit long winded. GB post code acceptance would be a help

The supplied maps are OK, but if you want to do any serious walking be prepared to buy maps to add. To date I have only bought the Topo GB V2 one, which seems fine (would like those post codes though), plenty of detail and you get to choose which bits you need to upload to the GPSMap rather than having to put the whole thing on, which is good. Big pain in the butt though is the unlocking procedure for the map. It’s a fiddly business, especially if the software protection (Norton’s, Ghostsurf etc.) on your computer prevents data from the Garmin unlocking web site. Never come across that before so maybe it’s me, anyway the guys at Garmin¡¦s are very helpful if you have to call them; which I did. All in all a nice GPS, little bit pricy though I thought but YMMV.” — A. Taylor
